Ayurvedic Oils
Oils are described in Ayurveda most prominently, reason is the specificity of the oils in treatment and secondly there is a marvelous property in fats- Oil and Ghee (Indian Purified Butter), which makes these carrier of choice for different purposes. This quality in Ayurveda is known as- Yogavahitava! Yogavahitava is a property of the oil and ghee- when we cook or process the oils and ghee with other herbs, these two acquires the properties of the herbs very easily, but never leaves their own properties. This specific nature of the oil and ghee has made these drug of choice or carrier of choice in Ayurveda.

This section of the website is related to the Ayurvedic Herbal Oils, or better to say Ayurvedic Oils. So here we will discuss the qualities of the oil, which make Ayurvedic Seers to use these Oils in abundance. The foremost thing is the role of oils on Vata Dosha. Vata is a prime Dosha of the body, because of the capacity of the Vata to move. Everything except Vata inside the body is told as handicapped and Vata is responsible for all the movements, it makes Vata a prime Dosha.

Vata is dry and to pacify the Vata, we need to give some oleation to the Vata to combat dryness of the Vata. This is the main concept of using the oil for the treatment of the Vata as a prime Dosha or in other conditions also. Second character of Vata is too much lightness and contrary to that oil is always heavy and high and viscosity, where Air is free flowing and low in viscosity. So due to these opposite traits-Ayurvedic Oils are the first choice of medicines in all conditions.

Generally it is said that- this is Vata Disease...Pitta Disease...Kapha Disease and so on....! But it never means that there is involvement of Vata/Pitta/Kapha alone in that diseases. There is neither physiological nor pathological activities of the body, which can occur without the involvement of all the three Doshas. When we label the diseases as Pitta..Vata or Kapha, the main aim is to notify the main Dosha..or the prime Dosha in the process. So over all .....all the three are involved and because Vata is active one, so it is important to handle Vata first. so this is the main reason in Ayurvedic Texts oils are used for so many times.

Ayurvedic Oils have some specifications, that makes these very important for the treatments, here are some of the points about Ayurvedic Oils...
Ayurvedic Oils are easy to absorb from external application. This is a truth that no other cream or anyother thing is absorbable easily from the skin, as much are the Ayurvedic Oils.
Ayurveda Oils are best antibiotics, because this is a well knwon fact that bacteria cannot grow inside the oils.
Ayurvedic Oils are the best carriers of the active principles of the herbs.
Ayurvedic Herbal Oils work on all the three Doshas, due to the herbs processed with these oils.
Ayurvedic Oils can be taken internally, because of the way these Ayurveda Oils are prepared.

Ayurvedic oils are processed in a very different way then the western way to infuse the herbs in oils. Ayurveda considers that the way to process the oils and ghee should be in such a way that this will bring all the essential parts of a herb in the oil. This makes Ayurveda Oils different from the oils prepared by infusion in the west.
